What is it? A four-day, 270-mile run from Columbus, Georgia to Savannah, Georgia. . What is the route? Downhill back roads from the National Infantry Museum at Ft. Benning, Georgia to the tip of Tybee Island.
When is it? Beginning on May 22nd at 4:00 a.m. EDST and finishing on Memorial Day, May 25th at whatever time. Who is running? John Teeples, an ultra-marathon runner from right here in Fortson, GA. Winner of the Pinhoti 100, John has also completed the Grand Slam of Ultra Running. Anyone else that wants to run can come along for all or part of it. John promises a slow-paced, all downhill, tailwind-aided, shaded route. Easy running, fershur, no bull. Why is he running? To raise money for the House of Heroes. Memorial Day weekend is a holiday to honor the veterans who have sacrificed for our freedom and safety. The HOH provides minor repairs and improvements to the homes of veterans and their spouses, at no cost to the veteran, through the generosity of individuals, civic organizations and corporations. |
